Lilies with Critters 18" x 24" Oil on Canvas White isn't just white. I love the challenge of painting white and the search for the subtle colors that hide so well. For me, it's like being on a treasure hunt and having that "ah-ha!" moment of discovery when I find the soft colors hidden within. Looking closely at this painting you will find the 'critters'; a hummingbird, ladybug, butterfly, and snail who I fondly refer to as Harvey. Harvey was a bit slow in his arrival at the feast. Flight of the Passing Fancy by Paula Peacock 36" x 48" oil on canvas This painting took five years to complete. I, evidently, was spending a lot of time contemplating my choice in men while working on this one. No, I'm not 'man-bashing'. I'm just truth-speaking. This painting is a fairy tale about 'Three Little Pigs'.  Piggy One, also known as Passing Fancy One, built his home with straw. Hence the box of drinking straws. Needless to say, this pig had a drinking problem. Oops! You ignored those red flags, didn't you, Paula. Piggy had the annoying habit of always wearing sunglasses indoors, on cloudy days, and even dark evenings. Always! Straws did not make a firm foundation for a home. Passing Fancy Two built his home with sticks. That's him sitting on top of the vintage game of 'Pick Up Stix'. Piggy, Two, was a very lazy and immature piggy. He came from a wealthy family and rarely worked. Mama sow had refused to allow any more suckling...

Weekly Oil Painting Classes with Paula Peacock Weekly oil painting classes for the beginner covering painting techniques, color theory, composition, featuring the subject of Still-Life. You will gain an understanding of the oil painting process as you learn about color mixing, values, complements. Canvas prep, varnish, framing, mediums and paintbrush care will be discussed. Metamorphosis of a Bi-polar by Paula Peacock 12" x 24" Oil on Canvas Raising my grandson from the age of 6 years old, I watched him struggle with severe bi-polar his entire life. He is now 28 and the bipolar is somewhat under control. But, at the time, I wasn't quite sure about bi-polar or how to help someone through the nightmare as such as his. I think I did this painting as my way of trying to understand what he goes through. From being highly manic and violent to being down, depressed and anxious that nobody liked him. Rarely were things 'peachy' for him or the family. The peach representing the middle ground or what we would call 'normal' was rarely present. It seemed he was always morphing from one mood to the other throughout the day. The peppers represent his manic stages and the mushrooms, the depressive stage. 'The Key to Me' Oil on Linen 16" x 20" by Paula Peacock The inner pear shows an attempt to discard the outer dark cloak of constant depression (the outer layer) which serves as a hardened armor and a disguise to fool, not only myself, but others as well.  The inner pear tries to emerge completely out, to be what she once was, but continues holding on to her protective tough skin not quite ready to bravely step out and be happy without feeling guilt. The Narcissists' Mirror 28" x  34" Oil on Canvas by   Paula Peacock A wilted and almost dried up daffodil (scientific name narcissus) gazes into a tri-folding mirror and sees only himself as beautiful and all else (the purple tulip) surrounding him as not as perfect, beautiful or as delightful as he sees himself to be. When in reality, it is he who is ugly on the inside and outside because of his conceit. The dragonfly represents self delusion and the bubbles allude to the brevity of life.
