'Gulliver's Pear' Original Contemporary Still-Life Oil paintings by Paula Peacock

Image
Gulliver's Pear by Paula Peacock 8" x 8" Oil on Canvas Painting is a journey of self-discovery where we lose the mask we wear every day for the protection of our ego, our heart, our soul and bare it all for all to see. It's a scary thing to show your paintings to the world. To show people who you really are, to allow yourself to be vulnerable and judged. So we either conform to what's expected of us and discard who we are,-- or love ourselves for who we are, do what we love, take a chance, step out there butt naked and moon the world. Once upon a time, I tried to conform. I painted pretty little pictures that matched your decor and sold those pretty little pictures very well.  Don't get me wrong. Artists paint gorgeous paintings that I wish I had the talent to do, but it just wasn't me or my personality. Ask anyone who knows me. I was bored out of my ever-lovin' mind! It got to where I didn't look forward to going to my studio t...

'If it Walks Like a Duck...' Contemporary Oil Paintings by Paula Peacock

Image
'If it Walks Like a Duck...' by Paula Peacock 12" x 24" Oil on Canvas Edgar Degas said; "A painting requires a little mystery, some vagueness, some fantasy. When you always make your meaning perfectly clear, you end up boring people." I like it when I manage to pique someones' interest in a painting, to keep them standing in front of it, thinking, cogitating on its meaning, wondering "What the heck was this artist thinking?" I don't try to make it my goal. I'm simply painting my life journey. Painting is a state of being and self-discovery. A painter paints what she is.   If you are interested in purchasing please contact the artist HERE To view more of her work see www.paulapeacock.fineartstudioonline.com

Lots of new faces as well as a few that I hadn't seen in a few years. It was nice to catch up. Though it is a lot of work preparing for the event, it is always well worth it. I'm still trying to catch my breath. As I sit here with Ziggy laying across my feet (big orange kitty, on his back, feet in the air and doing a great job of imitating road kill), we are contemplating the direction my art should go in. Some of it is what I call the 'Traditional Still Life' genre. It is always nice, safe, sells, rarely stimulates conversation. On the other hand, is what I call my 'Gotta Laugh to Keep from Crying' (aka contemporar...
